I visited the symphony a while back. Sitting in the audience, waiting for the conductor to arrive, I was struck by a metaphor relating individual people on a professional team to individual instruments in an orchestra – each tuned to their own frequency, playing their own sound.
What happens when the leader arrives?
My comment is today’s (very) quick thought – a 43-second listen, with transcript below:
Visited the symphony last night.
Got there early. Listened to everyone tuning their instruments and the cacophony of random sounds that sounded like a bunch of total amateurs.
Then, the conductor arrived, tapped the lectern, and the beautiful music of Beethoven filled the room.
What a contrast.
Similar to a team, where a bunch of individuals are pursuing their own thing verses when a leader assembles them to pursue 1 goal.
