This time of year, it’s especially appropriate to remember Charles Dickens‘s observation
that “Not knowing where one’s next meal is coming from ’tis a great help to thankfulness.”
Most leaders don’t fret about their next meal, but we sure can squander our time worrying about a jillion other things.
Well, I suggest you let yourself up a little. Gather together a few pounds of humility and face the fact that you’re gifted with a good dose of smarts, a large portion of experience, a fairly free country, and a good team – to say nothing of what is likely a substantial dollop of good (lucky?) timing.
As you face next year’s unknowns, I suggest you avoid fretting, whining, and blaming others. Instead, try some humble thankfulness.
